Government must change after categorization: Koirala

KATHMANDU, Nov 21: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala on Monday said that the government must change after completing the categorization of the Maoist combatants. “Government must change,” Koirala replied in a query about the government in an interaction with journalists organized on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of signing of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA).[break] He also added the NC would not join the present government. “Congress will not join this government,” Koirala said. “Until the government remains, NC will decide on supporting it or not based on its deeds.” The categorization of the Maoist combatants is scheduled to be completed by November 28. “I am cautiously optimistic about the peace process,” Koirala said. He also said that the party had not yet discussed about the extension of the Constituent Assembly terms. “There has been no discussion in the party about this,” he said adding that he did not know about the whip issued by the party. On Sunday, NC Parliamentary Party issued a whip to all its parliamentarians asking them to vote for a six-month extension of the CA terms.
